Literature Text

Sonic the Hedgehog. Everyone knew that name; the hero, the blue blur. He went by many nicknames. He was known for his speed; racing with the wind, breaking the sound barriar and then some. He'd made many enemies in his short life, and many friends as well. Most would expect the hero to be out on one of his adventures or racing on the wind, but that wasn't him today. No, for once in his life; Sonic was relaxing. Yes, he was relaxing; at one of his favorite hangouts on a warm, sunny summer afternoon. It was at his best friend Tails' workshop. All the windows were opened as wide as they could go and even the doors were open to let as much of the sun in as possible. Sure, Tails complained about the heat, but otherwise just worked on his plane, known mainly as the Tornado.

Sonic was kicking back on one of the few uncluttered benches, enjoying what was probably his third chilidog. When Tails complained yet again, the blue hedgehog only rolled his eyes as he polished off the last of his chilidog.

"No can do little bro. You need all the sun you can get. You spend too much time cooped up in here when we aren't out kicking Eggy's butt or something. Since you won't leave the shop, I thought I'd bring the sun right in."

The two weren't really brothers, but Sonic did see the ten year old fox as a little brother.

At that same moment in time, a young pink hedgehog walked down the streets with a small bag of groceries in hand. Her name: Amy Rose, the pink hedgehog who'd never stop chasing after Sonic in hopes of getting him to like her. Usually by now, she'd be out trying to figure where he was. Instead, she decided to do a little grocery shopping and bought a few extra goodies for herself..and for a special certain someone.

She decided to go visit her friend Tails at his workshop, and offer him something to eat. It worried her a little to see him all cooped up in his shop by himself, working on his plane all day. Maybe sharing some of her treats would enlighten him to go out a little more, especially considering who was usually there with him. Now happy with her new plan, she quickened her pace a little until his shop came into view, and instantly she spotted the two people she was looking for.

"Hey, Sonic~! It's me, Amy! I'd thought I'd drop by and bring you a little special something for you two to eat~!" she said cheerfully as she walked in.

'She reached into her bag and took out a box of cookies, giving it to Tails and hoping it would keep him a bit busy for now. She walked up to Sonic and instantly tried to get closer to him. She moved just slightly towards him by a few inches, hoping he wouldn't notice what she was up to her usual tactics again. Lately, she noticed that he'd been acting strange ever since he defeated Dark Gaia, and nowadays he's been avoiding her far too often. She did wonder what was going on with him, but for now she shrugged it off as she once again attempted to get closer to him.

When he heard Amy's voice, Sonic felt a very unwelcome chill run up his spine despite the warm air. How was it she could always find him? It was like he had some kind of radar chip implanted on his body or something. He was about to make himself scarce, but too little too late. Amy was already coming over toward him. Man, talk about persistant. Not even here two seconds and the pink hedgehog was already trying to get close to him. He was suprised she hadn't gotten him in a bone-crushing hug yet. That was usually the first thing Amy did whenever she found Sonic. Anyway, Sonic did his best to edge away from her, but there was little room on the bench to go. It wasn't very big, and much of it was cluttered with boxes of who-know's what.

"Uh, hey Amy," Sonic greeted.

He really didn't know what else to say, so he just scratched the side of his head with a finger and looked to his beloved sneakers. Why was it that Amy was the only one that could leave the blue hedgehog at a loss for words? He didn't even like her the way she wished he would.

Amy giggled as she advanced closer to him and fiddled a little with the end of her dress.

"..Since your not doing anything, you should definitely take me on a date! Maybe we could even go see a movie together~!" she said happily as she linked her arm with his.

She hoped he'd say yes and go out with her; it had been so long since they actually went on a date with together. The last time they did, he came in late and made up some excuse about saving a knighted kingdom or something. That, and he was always too busy to pay much attention to her anyways. This was probably one of those rare times that the blue blur was ever free of doing anything, and Amy wouldn't hesitate to ask him every small chance she could get.

'..He better take me on a date this time. He's got to spend some time with me, I just know it!' she thought hopefully, still clinging onto his arm as she waited happily for him to say something to her, and hopefully agree to go out with her.

Sonic looked to the ceiling, a sweatdrop look on his face as he scratched the side of his head.

"Aw, c'mon Amy. I just wanna relax today. Don't pull this on me again."

He swiftly unhooked his arm from hers and dashed to the other side of the workshop. Tails looked to Sonic, but the blue hedgehog ignored his little bro's probing look. Sonic didn't care how Tails saw it otherwise; he was NOT in love with Amy Rose.

Amy frowned as he easily slipped his arm away from hers and dashed to the other side of the room.

"Oh, but you NEVER take me on a date..and you still owe me one since last time!!" she replied angrily as her fists clenched at her sides.

"Ah c'mon Amy, ya know that's not true. I have too taken you on a date. As I recall it wasn't very long ago, so I don't owe you one," Sonic replied, holding up his hands defensively. 'And yet for the first time I tell the truth to why I was late, I get rewarded with endless hammer wacks to the face.' he then added in his thoughts alone.

"You're gonna regret saying no!!!" she yelled, disregarding Sonic's rebuttle as she raised her hammer high above her head, rushing at Sonic ready to whack him hard on his head.

The blue hedgehog's emerald eyes widened by a great degree when Amy pulled out her hammer before his whole face paled. Crap, she was really angry this time. She launched herself at Sonic, intent on beating him with her hammer, but the blue hedgehog was too fast, and she missed by a mile.

'Of all days, why does she pick today to want me to ask her out?' Sonic wondered to himself.

Tails had stopped working on his plane to watch, and out of the corner of his eye Sonic could see that the fox was getting a kick out of this. He'd just have to get Tails later for it. Sonic dashed right out of the workshop. He didn't wanna listen to Tails giving him grief about wrecking the stuff in the boxes.

"HEY! GET BACK HERE!! SOOONNNIIICC!!!!!" Amy yelled as he dashed out of the workshop.

Quickly running outside, she looked around trying to find which direction he went to and took off tailing after him. Even with the blue blur's incredible speeds, Amy could still catch up with him and find him with no problem at all. As she continued to chase after him, Amy readied herself as she raised her hammer one more time.

'..I've got you NOW, Sonic!..' she thought as the large gaping distance between them began to shrink and she inched closer and closer to him.

Sonic risked a glance over his shoulder to see if Amy was still coming after him. Crap, she was. Though just a pink and red dot behind him, she was still pursuing the blue hedgehog. Geez, Sonic could never catch a break. If it wasn't Eggman or some other enemy trying to kill him, it was Amy chasing him. Why couldn't Sonic just have one little normal-ish day? He did have to admit though, he was almost enjoying himself; almost. While much of the time he couldn't stand Amy and her antics, he had to admit, at least to himself, there was some fun in running from her. She could never catch Sonic for one, not unless it was off-gaurd. While she always found him in the end, the blue hedgehog could just run away again and be able to do what he wanted for a few hours before Amy found him again. What's more, she got exhausted far, far faster than Sonic ever did.

A bit of a ways from Tails's workshop, Sonic veered sharply to the right. He sprinted up a steep hill and down the other side; gaining even more speed as he went downhill. He ended up in an overgrown field. That he sprinted across as well, and while it left a clear trail for Amy to follow, Sonic thought of this. He ran several pathways through the field to hopefully confuse Amy before taking off down a new street nearby. He zigzaged through the streets until he found a currently vacant house he could relax upon. He'd put a good distance between himself and Amy. Maybe now he could relax a little, and get something to eat in a little while. All that running had already burned the chilidogs off that he'd eaten earlier.

Amy managed to keep up her chase with Sonic pretty well..that is, until she reached the overgrown field. All the twisting and crossing pathways had gotten her confused; one minute, she seemed to find the right path only to find herself going around in circles and back where she first started.

It wasn't until a few hours passed that she noticed she was extremely tired, and that Sonic was already long gone by now. Fustrated, she sat down in the middle of the field with her knees brought close against her chest as she just stared out across the field.

"Oh, WHY doesn't he like me?! Why can't he just realize that we're so perfect for each other..?" she said with a huff and to no one in particular.

Sighing, she looked up at the sky and watched the clouds float on by.

"..Well..maybe after I rest a little, I'll go back and see Tails again..and once I do, I'll definitely start looking for Sonic again.." she muttered to herself, and for the next few minutes or so she quietly stared up at the clouds thinking of a way to search for Sonic once more, and hopefully, go on that date that he still owed her.

Without realizing it, Sonic had fallen asleep. He stretched and sat up. Man that had been a good, as well as needed, nap. The house whose roof he was laying on had its lights on and there were vehicles in the driveway, so the blue speed demon hightailed it away from the house before he got caught (like that would ever happen). It was evening now. The sun had set, but Sonic didn't have to worry too much. At least not yet. Though the moon was already up, it wasn't quite full. That wouldn't happen for at least another couple of days. The seventeen year old hedgehog sped to his favorite restaurant and ordered a couple of chilidogs and a soda. His favorite thing about this place: fast service. Sonic sat outside to enjoy his food. The night was warm and only slightly overcast. He hadn't paid much attention to the weather, but it wasn't supposed to rain for at least a more few days. Emerald eyes stared almost vacantly up at the sky. Sonic's mind wandered; a thing he didn't let happen very often; while he enjoyed his meal.

His mind wandered through all his friends; all the adventures he'd had over the years and all the fun he'd had. Beating Eggman regularly was a chore, but it was just a small negative in all the positives in the blue hedgehog's life. And yet...a small part of him, a part his mind had decided to linger on, felt empty. It was like something was missing from Sonic's life. But no, that couldn't be could it? After all, Sonic's life was great. He could run across the planet in a matter of hours (where he didn't have to cross water) to his heart's content, visit places almost daily that would be inaccessable to many others. He had the greatest friends; most of whom would stay by Sonic's side through thick and thin no matter what (unless they were gullible like Knuckles or just plain dark and brooding like Shadow). Yet somehow, there was a part of him that felt void of something, but of what?

Sonic shook his head, realizing he was already downed with his meal.

'You see? This is why I don't let myself think deeply very often,' he thought to himself as he threw his wrappers away, went inside and paid what was owed, 'All it does is bring things to light I'd rather not deal with.'

With that, Sonic left the restaurant and took off once more, unaware of where his feet were leading him.

Based on the rp between me and :iconxxdreamwhispererxx:
I rp as Sonic, and she rps as Amy.

I'm trying not to change too much of the text, just where it needs to flow together better. Also, we started this rp back in March of 2011, so what we've put into the rp for posts may not be as good as later chapters.
